FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Are my uploaded images stored?

No. Images are decoded and processed entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and no image data is stored.

Is PaletteTools really free?

Yes. Every tool is free to use with no account, no signup, and no hidden paywall.

Does the website use AI?

No. Palette extraction uses a deterministic color-quantization algorithm (median cut), not AI or machine learning, and no external APIs are called.

Are more tools coming?

Yes. Gradient generation, contrast checking, a color wheel, and several other tools are on the roadmap and clearly marked as coming soon in the Tools menu.

Can I use the generated colors commercially?

Yes. Colors extracted or converted with PaletteTools are just numeric values (HEX, RGB, HSL) — you're free to use them in any personal or commercial project.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Every tool is designed mobile-first and works on modern phones, tablets, and desktop browsers.
